DJ Nark

"All things Nark (a.k.a. Kevin Kauer) come from the need to share and expose, and the DJ side of Nark is no different. Having spent the last decade hunting, finding, researching and listening with his head buried in the bargain cd bin, looking for the gem someone else had no idea they threw away, comes a chaotic, endless and unmanageable collection of music from near and far.

Since sharing that collection in 2009, Nark became an immediate staple of Capitol Hill and Seattle. Alongside producing Nark Magazine events and fundraising for local charities, Nark has been playing and performing at nearly every queer party and venue around, as well as large festivals and concerts and along side the likes of Victor Rodriguez, John Cameron Mitchell, Ongina, Heklina, Juanita MORE, Jessica 6, Raja Gemini, Colby B, Daisy O'Dell, Joshua J, Cherie Lily, House of Stank, Lisa Dank and many more.

An adaptable DJ that can't be stuck into one genre, Nark doesn't waste your time masturbating in the DJ booth, but instead plays for and off of you, whether that lands up being obscure 70's punk, disco, nu-wave, house, electro or more, he prefers to sum it up into two self conceived genres, bitch haus and homojam; either way his profuse supply manipulates a dancefloor accordingly. One thing's for certain, keep your radio requests to yourself, he wouldn't touch top 40 with a stick, too easy.

His parties have changed the attitude and image of venues and establishments around Seattle, keeping their doors open and increasing business. His first themed party-child, Fringe, revamped the club kid i.e. Party Monster-esque scene in Seattle, and opened up the doors of The Eagle to all walks of life. His political soiree, Dickslap, with the help of The Eagle and The Stranger, squelched the oppressive and targeted grip of the Liquor Board on all local gay bars. Nark Magazine strives to bring their favorite talent from around the country to Seattle, like creating Juanita More's monthly residency in Seattle at his newest event, Beep Beep, while retaining the queer, affordable and DIY environment. Beyond this, Nark Magazine works tirelessly year round to put together their annual Pride Weekend fundraiser- Hey Tranny it's Tranny, which showcases transgendered, drag and other queer talent nationwide, as well as local concerts and festival attractions.

Under his creation and through his photography, Nark Magazine has been capturing and exposing your finest and most ridiculous moments around the country. His event photography is seen and produced world wide; his eye, attention to detail and meticulous process has placed him as the west coast's top party photographer alongside L.A.'s finest, Rolling Blackouts. His portraits of public figures, musicians, dj's, burlesque performers, drag queens and more have donned the cover and insides of The Stranger, Seattle Metro and more, as well as regularly featured on national news sites like Queerty and Seattle Gay Scene.

Nark, alongside Riff-Raff, is also spearheading Bottom Forty, an aural gallery for the absolute finest in music selected and compiled by only the best musicians and DJ's, ranging anywhere from disco, soul, electro, italo, house, funk, tribal, indie, acid, R&B, nu-disco and techno from all generations, but never inches to the top of the boring billboard charts. Every Sunday at The Cuff, Bottom Forty is a mirror ball in New York, a basement in Chicago, a cruise in L.A. and a night in the desert.

Under the same name, Bottom Forty is also the creation and home base of Seattle's first queers only DJ Collective, contributed to only by the highest caliber of queer musicians who vehemently stick to their integrity and prowess in musical selections and mixing. "

"About a year and a half ago, a nice young man moved to Seattle from San Diego. Suddenly, crazy-glamorous new club nights started popping up. Instead of wearing jeans and T-shirts, people started turning up in full-body spandex, rhinestones, and garbage-bag dresses. And dance floors were filling up" -Kelly O', The Stranger

"..the beats coming from Stallion Saturdays at Rebel more than made up for all the unyielding musculature in the club. Seattle's DJ Nark had appeared for the evening, sporting fetching neckwear and spinning even more fetching, not-corny-at-all jams from disco greats to more current, creepy-good modern bangers. By the end of the night the place was packed.."
-Caitlin Donohue, San Francisco Bay Guardian

“Nark has quickly become one of Seattle’s trend-setting DJ’s. His music tastes are always two steps ahead of the scene.” -DJ Skiddle, c89.5

“Berzerk beats and dirty sex for your ears, Nark is one of Seattle’s favorite up and coming DJ’s. Not only does this kid throw some of the illest parties I’ve seen in a minute, he’s absolutely sweet as pie! Trust!” -DJ Riff-Raff

“Small in stature but big in quiet quirky personality, so many people in Seattle (and hopefully beyond) have been privy to his art, which, I think, is fucking genius.” -Sydni Deveraux, The Golden Glamazon

"Kevin gets his spot in the Seattle Peach 100 for aways doing the most and for constantly pushing the envelope in terms of material–his photos and parties are full of drag queens, burlesque dancers and other glamazonia, and he can play an hour long dance set that burns up the floor without resorting to tired top 40 hits."
-Seattle Peach

"Kevin Kauer has been an unstoppable force in the seattle party scene. He was worked with just about every venue imaginable creating an array of events with creativity, passion, and impeccable design. Not to mention the hectic DJ schedule that has taken this young man up and down the west coast and solidified him as a key player in the dance world."
