Hey Tranny it's Tranny Recap

Amoania & Devil Eyes

Hey Tranny it's Tranny this year was a roaring success! With your help we were able to raise $2,300 for Gay City Health Project, that may not sound like the craziest numbers but for small non-profits here on the hill that do so much for the community, it really makes a big difference!

Special thanks and shout outs to our amazing DJ's, Devil Eyes, Amoania, and the gorgeous Phyllis Navidad who came all the way up from L.A. just for us. Hey Tranny would have been nothing without them or our amazing go-go dancers Kerry Niesen and Adaam King, our flawless host Jinkx Monsoon, our amazing performers Jackie Hell, Ursula Major, and Ade, our outside dance party DJ's Nitty Gritty (Sophisticated Mama's soul dj, Thursday nights at Havana), and Generalmeow, my setup crew Thomas Colonna, Erik Ellefsen and Maxwell Brisben, everyone that was willing to slap their face on a Hey Tranny flier, all our promotional and loving support provided by anyone such as the Hard Times Crew, Adrian Ryan of The Stranger, Seattle Gay Scene and more, everyone that loaned any equipment, Havana and all their staff for providing a great venue and atmosphere, Gay City for helping put the word out, and most of all YOU for turning out those amazing looks and supporting our community!

Or on the Nark Facebook page.

On a side note, there's an interesting poll going around (click here) on Facebook started by The Social about who our favorite DJ's in Seattle are, let's put the Hey Tranny crew Amoania, Nark and Devil Eyes at the top along with all your other favorite Capitol Hill tunewizards (Skiddle, L.A. Kendall, Brian Lyons, Colby B, Riff-Raff, Blueyedsoul? You know who you love!)

Please join me next Wednesday at Nectar Lounge in Fremont, where I will be DJ'ing for an amazing lineup of bands including Sports, Jeffrey Jerusalem (of Yacht), and the a-m-a-z-i-n-g Jessica 6, all live for you Wednesday July 6th, just 7 boners to get in.

Also keep an eye out as Nark Magazine.com will soon be going through some major changes!

Juanita More's Annual Pride Party

You'd have to be living under a giant lifeless rock to not know about Juanita More! or her annual Pride Extravaganza, the amount of money she has raised, the people involved and the talent on location is just astronomical. Here's all the deets straight from the source..

Juanita MORE!’s iconic Pride bash, touted as the “Best Queer Party” of the year by the SF Bay Guardian, moves back to its original location at the newly renovated Chambers Eat + Drink and the adjoining Phoenix Hotel. Returning to the space where it all started, Juanita promises to once again deliver the party of the year.

The event will take place on Sunday, June 26, 2011 and is benefiting GSA Network (www.gsanetwork.org). All proceeds from the party will go to this great youth organization that connects school-based gay-straight alliances to each other and community resources through peer support, leadership development, and training.

Over the past seven years, Juanita has helped raise big money for worthy causes through her annual bacchanal, and she has high hopes for bringing in much needed funds for GSA Network this year. “Recently publicized instances of anti-LGBT bullying and harassment in our schools highlight the importance of GSA Network’s programming ” said Juanita, “I am so happy to be able to support their important work this year.”

Juanita has pulled together 12 hours of DJ and performer entertainment from San Francisco and around the world. R&B and dance singer Dajae will sing her classic hits - Brighter Days, U Got Me Up and more. “The beauty of this annual event is that--not unlike the work of this year’s beneficiary--it transcends categories and labels,” Juanita said, “It revels in all the diverse aspects of LGBT culture that make San Francisco so unique. Every year, we assemble a vast collection of vibrant, generous and PROUD individuals who come together to give back to their communities.”

Entertainment includes:
Dajae, Horsemeat Disco (UK), W. Jeremy & Christy Love / House of Stank (NYC), Derrick Love / Gemini Disco, The Cougar Cadet Corps Drumline, Some Thing – Glamamore, VivvyAnne ForeverMORE! & Lil Miss Hot Mess, The Tubway Crew – Gant Johnson, Nita Aviance, Colby B, One-Half Nelson, Erickatoure Aviance & Clifton Brown Jr, Alexis Blair Penney. Plus tons of special surprises!
